How to Render a Minecraft Skin
By the MCRender team · Updated · 4 min read
To render a Minecraft skin, type the username on MCRender, pick a pose, and download the PNG. It is a browser render. You do not install Blender. Start on the pose page, or build a full thumbnail in the Thumbnail Editor.
Render a skin
- 1
Open MCRender
Go to mcrender.net. The pose page loads a 3D Minecraft player. You do not install Blender or Mine-imator.
- 2
Type the username
Enter a Java username or a Bedrock gamertag. The skin, including the outer layer, loads onto the model. You can also upload a 64×64 skin PNG.
- 3
Pick a pose
Choose a community pose, or open the studio and move the head, arms and legs yourself. The camera frames the character.
- 4
Download the PNG
Export the render. Use it as a thumbnail subject, a profile picture, or a still in a video. A full YouTube thumbnail, with a title and a mob, is the Thumbnail Editor at /thumbnails.
Who this is for
Minecraft YouTubers who want their own skin in a thumbnail, and anyone who wants a 3D picture of a skin for Discord, YouTube or a server page. If the picture only needs the character, stay on the pose page. If it needs a title, a mob or a build, use the Thumbnail Editor. A square avatar with a plain background is the Minecraft avatar maker.
Questions
- How do I render a Minecraft skin without Blender?
- Type the username on MCRender, pick a pose, and download the PNG. The render happens in the browser. There is no .blend file and no plugin to install.
- Can I render someone else's skin?
- Yes. Any public Java or Bedrock username loads that player's skin. Use it for an SMP thumbnail or a profile picture of a friend.
- What is the difference between a skin render and a thumbnail?
- A skin render is the posed character on its own. A thumbnail is that character plus a subject, a background and a short title, at 1280×720, made in the Thumbnail Editor.
